UPSSSC AGTA Recruitment 2026 | 2759 Vacancies

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Agriculture Technical Assistant (AGTA) Group-C jobs with 2759 vacancies. The online application will be open from May 22, 2026 and the eligible candidates can apply through the official portal till June 11, 2026. The candidates applying for Group C jobs must have a valid UPSSSC PET 2025 scorecard with a positive normalised score to be eligible for these coveted Group C jobs of Technical Assistant. Academically, applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry or Agricultural Engineering from a recognised University. 1. Mandatory Shortlisting Criteria: Candidates must possess a valid UPSSSC PET 2025 scorecard. Candidates with zero or negative normalized scores will not be shortlisted for the Mains written exam. 2. Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university/institute in: - Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag / B.Sc. Hons. Ag) - Horticulture - Forestry - Agricultural Engineering - Home Science / Community Science (4-year degree from an Agricultural University) 3. Age Limit (as of July 1, 2026): - Minimum Age: 21 years - Maximum Age: 40 years - (Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories as per UP State Government rules).

The selection process consists of shortlisting via PET 2025 scores, followed by a Main Written Examination (Objective Type / Offline OMR-based). There is no interview round. - Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) - Total Marks: 100 marks (1 mark per question) - Time Duration: 2 Hours (120 minutes) - Negative Marking: 1/4th (0.25 marks) deducted for every incorrect answer.

Part 1: Agriculture Subjects – 65 Questions Topics: Crop Science (classification, patterns, protection), Soil & Water Management, Agricultural Extension, Dairy & Animal Husbandry, and Agricultural Economics/Schemes. 2. Part 2: Computer & Information Technology Knowledge – 15 Questions Topics: Hardware/Software, MS Office, Internet, E-mail, E-governance, and Digital Financial Tools. 3. Part 3: General Knowledge of Uttar Pradesh – 20 Questions Topics: History, Culture, Art, Geography, Economics, and Current Affairs related to UP.

- Pay Matrix: Level-4 (under 7th Pay Commission) - Pay Scale: Rs. 25,500 – Rs. 81,100 - Grade Pay: Rs. 2,400 - In-Hand Salary: Approximately Rs. 35,000 – Rs. 40,000 per month (inclusive of allowances like DA, HRA, etc., based on the place of posting).

The PET raw score required for AGTA has traditionally been much lower than that for general Group-C posts such as Lekhpal or Junior Assistant, because agricultural degrees are a specialised eligibility requirement. In past years, any candidate scoring even a single mark (1 or 2) in raw score in PET often made it to the Mains as the total number of agriculture graduates eligible in the state is small in comparison to the 15x shortlisting multiplier.
