MoES

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is a central government ministry in India responsible for monitoring and predicting Earth systems, including weather, climate, oceans, and seismology. It oversees institutions like the India Meteorological Department (IMD), National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), and National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT). MoES provides critical services such as weather forecasting, cyclone warnings, tsunami alerts, climate research, and supports maritime mandates and disaster preparedness.
