The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) is a central government ministry in India responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies related to petroleum, natural gas, petrochemicals, and oil & gas infrastructure. It oversees exploration and production, refining, distribution, marketing, and imports of oil and gas. The ministry regulates and coordinates public sector undertakings such as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and GAIL (India), and promotes investment in the energy sector.
