IOB Advertisement Number HRDD/APPR/01/2026-27 Vacancy Trends and Our Analysis
IOB has kept its apprentice intake at exactly 750 posts for two years running; the FY 2025-26 drive also advertised 750 vacancies, and the state-wise split is almost a carbon copy: Tamil Nadu topped both years at 200 posts; Uttar Pradesh came second at 110; and Maharashtra, third at 85. That kind of consistency tells you this isn't a fresh headcount assessment each year; it looks like a fixed annual allocation tied to IOB's branch network size in each state, which means the states with the most IOB branches will keep getting the most seats year after year, regardless of how competitive the process gets. The one thing that has genuinely changed is the stipend. Last year's FY 2025-26 notification paid Rs. 15,000 (Metro), Rs. 12,000 (Urban), and Rs. 10,000 (Semi-Urban/Rural). This year's are Rs. 15,500, Rs. 14,500, and Rs. 14,000, respectively, a modest bump for metro postings but a substantial jump of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 4,000 for Urban and Semi-Urban/Rural postings. If you were on the fence about a semi-urban/Rural posting last year, this year's numbers make that option considerably more worthwhile.

How To Prepare For Bank Apprentice Vacancies
- Because there are no sectional cut-off, you can afored to lean on your strongest section to cover for a weaker one; if Computer Knowledge is your weak spot, making up those marks in Qualntitative Aptitude or General English is a legitimate strategy here, unlike exams with individual section minimums.
- General/Financial Awareness rewards recent, banking specific current affairs over generic GK; focus on recent RBI policy moves, government financial scheme, and basic banking terms rather than broad current affairs.
- For Qualitative and Reasoning Aptitude and General English, standards bankoclerical-eax practice material (the same kind used for IBPS Clerk or SBI Clerk preparation) covers this syllabus well, since the level and format are comparable.
- If you are for state other than where you did your schooling, start on the local; language requirement realy; it's tested separately after the written exam, and there's no shortcut besides genuine reading/writing/speaking proficiency unless your 10th or 12th certificate already covers it.
- Practice under real exam conditions on a webcam-enabled device befrehand, since the test ia proctored through your own front camera and ID verification, and technical familiarity on exam day matters more here than in a physical exam hall.
