Associate Professor Jobs Vacancy Trends and Analysis

BASU's last comparable teaching recruitment for this cadre was Employment Notice No. 12/2023, which covered Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor posts together. This 2026 notice is narrower in one sense; it excludes the Professor grade entirely but is considerably large in raw numbers for the two grades it does cover, running to 95 posts against a much smaller count in the 2023 round. The Kishanganj campus alone accounts for 57 of the 95 posts this time, roughly 60% of the total, which points to that newer college still building out its full department-wise faculty strength compared with the more established Patna campus. Within the list, Veterinary Clinical Complex is the single largest block at both campuses, with 5 posts at Ptana and 8 at Kishanganj, reflecting how BASU counts its VGO, VSR, and VMD specializations together under one clinical head rather than as separate departments.

Selection Process for BASU Associate Professor & More Recruitment 2026

  1. 1BASU screens every application received by post for completeness, correct fee, correct form for the specific post and institution, and all required certificates and self-attested documents.
  2. 2Each candidate's academic and professional record is scored against the prescribed scorecard for the position applied for (a separate scorecard exists for Associate Professor and for Assistant Professor).
  3. 3Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, there is no written examination at any stage for either post.
  4. 4General category candidates must score at least 50% in the Interview to be considered for the merit list, SC, ST, and Divyang candidates, and all female candidates irrespective of category need only 32%.
  5. 5Candidates must bring all original certificates and documents to the Interview for verification; failure to produce them can lead to rejection of candidature at that stage.
  6. 6The final merit list is prepared based on the combined academic scorecard and interview performance, organized by department and institution, in accordance with the reservation roster published for that post.
  7. 7Selected candidates must execute a service bond on an Rs. 1,000 non-judicial stamp paper at the time of joining, committing to serve the University for a minimum period as prescribed.

BASU Recruitment Pay Scale

- Associate Professor (Academic Level-13A): Pay Band Rs. 37,4000 - 67,000 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 9,000, giving a total pay range of roughly Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,17,100. - Assistant Professor (Academic Level-10): Pay Band Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 6,000, giving a total pay range of roughly Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400. These figures reflect the 6th Pay Commission-style Academic Grade Pay Structure that BASU's notification uses for both posts; usual central and state allowances applicable to university teaching posts in Bihar would apply on top of this, though the covering notice itself does not itemize them.

Application Fee for Associate Professor Jobs

UR, BC, and EBC category candidates pay Rs. 1,000; SC, ST, and Divyang candidates pay Rs. 250. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid by Bank Draft in favor of "FGinance Comptroller, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna," payable at Patna. Fee relaxation applies only to original residents of Bihar who can produce the relevant caste certificate.
