NGT

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is a specialized judicial body established in 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010, for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources. It is a statutory body under the Central Government and functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. NGT deals with civil cases involving environmental laws, provides relief and compensation for damages to persons and property, and aims to reduce the burden of litigation in higher courts. The tribunal is headquartered in New Delhi and has regional benches across the country.
