The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) is a central government ministry in India responsible for promoting gainful employment, protecting workers’ rights, and ensuring appropriate working conditions. It oversees labour laws, national employment services, industrial relations, social security schemes like Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), and implements skill development and welfare programs across the organized and unorganized sectors.
