Educational Qualification
- Pre-University Certificate (PUC Examination) or Class 12.
- Class 12 examination conducted by CBSE or ICSE or any other State Government examination board is acceptable.
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is eligible.
- Two-Year B.T.C course candidates who passed from NIOS with one language subject and one academic subject (domestic or post-matriculation level) are considered equivalent to PUC only if they passed one language and one subject.

Selection Process - Complete Stage-by-Stage Breakdown
- 1Written Examination (Offline-OMR Based): Total 100 MCQs, total 100 marks, duration is 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes), medium is Kannada & English (bilingual), and minimum qualifying marks are 30 out of 100. Every wrong answer carries a negative marking of 0.25. Subjects covered are General Knowledge & Science, Geography of India & Karnataka, History of India & Karnataka, Indian Constitution & Politics, Current Affairs & Mental Ability & Ethics-Indian Socio Economic Development, and General Studies under Karnataka School Curriculum.
- 2Physical Standard Test (PST): Karnataka police recruitment will call candidates who qualify at a 1:5 ratio for the PST. Minimum height and minimum chest (unexpanded) are 168 cm and 86 cm (with a minimum expansion of 5 cm), respectively. Minimum height and weight for female & third gender candidates are 157 cm and 45 kg, respectively. Male candidates from Scheduled Tribal / Forest Areas of Karnataka must have a minimum height of 155 cm (complete chest expansion of at least 75 cm is required). Female candidates from Scheduled Tribal / Forest Areas of Karnataka must have a minimum height of 150 cm.
- 3Endurance Test (Physical Fitness Test): Events for Male / Ex-Servicemen are 1600 meter run completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds, high jump of at least 1.20 meters or long jump of minimum 3.80 meters (3 attempts allowed in high-long jump), and shot put of 7.26 kg for at least 5.60 meters (3 attempts allowed). Events for female / Third Gender / Ex-Servicewomen are 400 meter run completed within 2 minutes, high jump of at least 0.90 meters or long jump of at least 2.50 meters (3 attempts), and 4 kg shot put for minimum 3.75 meters (3 attempts). All events will be conducted in a specific sequence. This is a qualifying stage and marks will not be awarded. Candidates cannot withdraw in the middle of the process. Candidates can prepare for Endurance Test rigorously, starting one month before the test date. Failure in any one event will lead to disqualification from the entire selection process.
- 4Medical Examination: Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:2 ration per vacancy. Medical examination for these police jobs in Karnataka will be conducted by a designated medical board. Medical test covers vision test and hearing test. Vision test requires both eyes to have full field vision. Near vision of 0/6 is a better eye and 0/8 is a worse eye. Both eyes should have a distance vision of 6/9, or 6/9 & 6/12. Hearing test includes Rinne's Test, Weber's Test, and Tests for Vertigo. Any other physical or mental disability that impairs efficient discharge of duty is also a disqualifying factor.
