PRL

The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) is a premier research institution located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Established in 1947 by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, PRL is an autonomous unit of the Department of Space, Government of India. It is recognized as the cradle of space sciences in India and conducts fundamental research in various scientific domains, including Astronomy and Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Planetary Science and Exploration, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Geosciences, Theoretical Physics, Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, and Astro-chemistry. PRL operates observatories such as the Udaipur Solar Observatory and the Mount Abu InfraRed Observatory, contributing significantly to India's space and scientific endeavors.
