The National Medical Commission (NMC) is the apex regulatory body for medical education and professionals in India. Established in 2020 under the National Medical Commission Act, it replaced the Medical Council of India. NMC is responsible for setting policies for medical education, accrediting institutions, overseeing registration of medical practitioners, and conducting the National Exit Test (NExT). It aims to improve access to quality healthcare through better standards in education and ethical medical practice.
