NIT Rourkela

The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) is an autonomous public technical university located in Rourkela, Odisha. Established on August 15, 1961 as REC Rourkela and designated an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007, it operates under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIT Rourkela offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in engineering, architecture, sciences, management, and humanities across 17 academic departments. With a large 650-acre urban campus, it is known for high-quality research, innovation, and strong industry linkages. It ranked 19th under the engineering category in NIRF 2024.
