The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is a healthcare initiative launched by the Government of India to provide quality medical care to ex-servicemen pensioners and their dependents. Managed by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare under the Ministry of Defence, ECHS offers comprehensive medical services through a network of ECHS Polyclinics, empanelled private hospitals, and government hospitals across India. The scheme covers a wide range of medical treatments, including outpatient care, hospitalization, and specialized consultations. Beneficiaries are issued ECHS Smart Cards, which facilitate cashless transactions at empanelled facilities. The scheme aims to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for the veteran community, recognizing their service to the nation.
