The Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) is a public sector enterprise established on April 11, 1967, under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Founded by A. S. Rao, ECIL was set up in Hyderabad with the objective of achieving self-reliance in the field of professional-grade electronics. Over the years, ECIL has emerged as a multi-product, multi-disciplinary organization specializing in the design, development, and manufacture of electronic products and systems for sectors such as nuclear energy, defense, aerospace, security, and information technology. The company has been credited with several pioneering achievements, including the development of India's first digital computer (TDC-312), first solid-state television, and the first electronic voting machines.
