DoPT

The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) is a central government department under the Prime Minister’s Office. It serves as the cadre-controlling authority for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Central Secretariat Service (CSS), and oversees recruitment, training, service conditions, and performance management of central government employees. DoPT also issues policies related to government staffing, vigilance, official language, and e-governance, and coordinates major initiatives such as the Central Training Institutes and the Fundamental Rights-based policy frameworks.
