Coir Board

The Coir Board is a statutory body established by the Government of India under the Coir Industry Act, 1953. It functions under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and is tasked with the promotion and development of the coir industry in India. Headquartered in Kochi, Kerala, with regional offices across the country, the Board supports coir manufacturers, exporters, and workers through various initiatives. These include schemes like the Coir Vikas Yojana and the Mahila Coir Yojana, which aim to enhance production capacity, provide skill development, and empower women artisans. The Coir Board also facilitates research and development, quality improvement, and market promotion of coir products such as mats, rugs, ropes, and geotextiles, both domestically and internationally.
