Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu responsible for implementing and operating the Chennai Metro. Established in 2007, CMRL plans, constructs, and manages metro rail infrastructure and services aimed at improving urban mobility in Chennai. It oversees project execution from civil works to signalling and train operations, and plays a key role in enhancing public transportation, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting sustainable urban development.
