The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is the premier R&D organization of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Established in 1988 in response to technology denial for supercomputers, C-DAC developed India's first indigenous supercomputer, PARAM 8000, in 1991. Headquartered in Pune, C-DAC has centers across India, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Noida, Patna, Silchar, and Thiruvananthapuram. Its research areas encompass High Performance Computing (HPC), Grid and Cloud Computing, Multilingual and Heritage Computing, VLSI and Processor Design, Embedded Systems, Speech and Natural Language Processing, Information and Cyber Security, Ubiquitous Computing, Bioinformatics, Geomatics, Digital Forensics, Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, Health Informatics, and Quantum Computing. C-DAC's notable products include the PARAM series of supercomputers, VEGA Microprocessors based on RISC-V architecture, M-Kavach 2 mobile security solution, Bharat Operating System Solutions (BOSS), and eSanjeevani telemedicine platform. The organization also offers advanced computing diploma programs through its Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS) and has established Centres of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) abroad under the Ministry of External Affairs' development partnership projects.
