The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an apex autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, dedicated to the formulation, coordination, development, and promotion of research on scientific lines in the Ayurveda and Sowa-Rigpa systems of medicine. Established in 1978, CCRAS operates a network of 30 institutes across India, focusing on clinical research, pharmacological studies, drug standardization, and medicinal plant research. The council aims to develop safe and effective Ayurvedic formulations and therapies for the management of diseases of national and global importance, validate classical Ayurvedic formulations, and disseminate research outcomes to promote evidence-based Ayurveda.
