

The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) is a national organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, established on August 28, 1970. Its primary objective is to modernize and reform the police forces in India. BPR&D functions through four main divisions: Research, Development, Training, and Correctional Administration. The Research Division focuses on analyzing crime trends and police operations; the Development Division works on the advancement of police equipment and technologies; the Training Division oversees the enhancement of police training programs; and the Correctional Administration Division addresses prison reforms and correctional training. BPR&D also publishes various journals and manuals, such as the Indian Police Journal and the Police Drill Manual, to disseminate knowledge and best practices in policing.
