BEE

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Established on March 1, 2002, under the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, BEE's primary objective is to reduce the energy intensity of the Indian economy. The agency develops policies and strategies to promote energy efficiency and conservation across various sectors, including industry, transportation, and buildings. Key initiatives by BEE include the Standards & Labeling Program, which provides energy efficiency ratings for appliances; the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme for energy-intensive industries; and the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) for commercial buildings. BEE also conducts awareness campaigns and provides training programs to promote energy-efficient practices.
