Education Qualification - Junior Technician (Posts 1-13):

NTC or NAC in the relevant trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) is required for all thirteen Junior Technician trades, which include Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Electroplater, Fitter (General), Forger & Heat Treater, Foundrymen, Machinist, Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance, OMHE at Raw Material Handling Plant, Painter (General), Quality Assurance Assistant, Rigger, and Welder.

Educational Qualification - Engineering Executive Posts:

The Junior Manager (Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, and Metallurgy) and Deputy manager (Mechanical and Electronics) and the corresponding Assistant manager (Civil) posts require a B.E./B.Tech in the matching discipline or an equivalent branch as recognized by AVNL. Electronics-adjacent branches such as Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, and Applied Electronics are all treated as equivalent to Electronics Engineering; similarly, branches like Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering are treated as equivalent to Mechanical Engineering.

Educational Qualification - Non-Engineering Executive Posts:

- Consultant (Finance & Audit): Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10 years of experience in finance and audit in a government/PSU organization. - Additional General Manager (Business Development): Retired Indian army Colonel or above (Armoured Corps/Ordnance/Infantry) with 15 years of experience in procurement or acquisition. - Senior Manager (Cybersecurity): B.E./B.Candidates should have a Tech degree (Cybersecurity/CS/IT) or an MCA with a Cybersecurity certification and 1-5 years of relevant experience. - Senior manager (Intellectual Property): Science/Engineering/Technology degree + 6 years' experience in patent-related work and a valid Patent Agent registration.

Age Limit:

Junior Technician, Junior Manager, Assistant manager, and Deputy Manager posts: up to 30 years, with a maximum ceiling of 55 years after all applicable relaxation. Senior manager, Deputy General Manager, Additional General Manager and Consultant posts: below 65 years, inclusive of all relaxation. Age relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL, and 10 years for PwBD candidates, over and above the base limit.

Selection Process for AVNL Recruitment 2026

  1. 1AVNL scrutinizes all online applications against the eligibility criteria for the specific post and unit applied for.
  2. 2Candidates eligible for the posts of Junior Technician, Junior Manager, Assistant Manager, and Deputy Manager will have to appear for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) of 100 marks in 2 hours' duration, which will be divided into a General Paper (Part-A) of 50 marks and a Trade/Discipline Specific Paper (Part-B) of 50 marks.
  3. 3The written test has 100% weightage in the merit list for Junior Technician posts. Qualifiers are subject to a trade test of a qualifying nature only; no merit rank is awarded or deducted.
  4. 4A written test with 85% weightage for the posts of Junior manager, Assistant manager, and Deputy Manager, and an interview of 50 marks for testing technical knowledge and experience carries 15% weightage.
  5. 5Candidates qualifying the CBT shall be called for an interview or trade test in the ratio of 1:3 (post to candidates) per category. However, AVNL may change this ratio based on the number of qualifying candidates.

The Written Test is a single CBT paper of 100 objective, multiple-choice questions worth 100 marks in total, with no negative marking for wrong answers. - Part-A (General Paper, 50 marks): 10 questions each on General Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and Computer Aptitude.
